1048, System doesn't like to be on all night
Posted by collegeguy, Thu May-22-03 01:27 AM
My system usually is on all night. Here are the Power Management settings going on right now. Monitor set to go off after 20 minutes. HD power downafter 3 minutes, and Screen saver in 5 minutes. I haven't always had the HD set to power down, just int he last day or so cause of my HD LED problem I posted about in another thread.

The computer is on 24/7. During the day, the system will shut off monitor and everything it is supposed to. It recovers fine when I sit down at it. In the morning when I wake up, and it has been idle for 8 hours or so, it doesn't like to come back. The screen will come back on and I can see my background, but no icons or taskbar. Doesn't respond to bringing the task manager up and ctrl-alt-del does nothing. I have to hit the reset button to get back up, and after that all is fine.

Been happening like that since I installed XP. Something that the event monitor picks up as a system error. ACPI something. Around the same time it gets this. I don't know if it is related, but I have a bunch of those errors.

Any ways I can check for conflicts with something? New to XP, but I find it similar to Windows2000.
