204282, Registry Question
Posted by _Chewy_, Thu May-22-03 01:49 AM
A while back, i posted a question about removing some options listed in my context menu.

Several months ago, i installed "Easy Office" program which is a suite of applications including an application "Easy Zip". After it installed, everytime i R-clicked on a menu item in Windows Explorer, it would show a bunch of garbage I did not care for related to "Easy Zip". Problem was made worse in that it doesn't have an uninstall feature nor did it have any option in Easy Zip appc. itself to get rid of the context menu items.

I finally managed to get rid of that sh*t by editing my registry (OS=W2K). In fact, i found 2 keys where Easy Zip had caused my problem and deleted two subkeys where it said "Easy Zip". The attached screenshot provided show where I found them. These two subkeys were located under:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ &
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ respectively.

My question is about the 2nd screenshot attached. The highlighted one with a bunch of numbers.... i don't know if that is related to the Easy Zip program but it has a empty text value on the right pane. Is it safe to delete this (highlighted one)? TIA.

That CLSID refers to the disk copy extension. Leave it alone.
