395554, "out of memory" error messages during DVD backup...

Has anyone been getting "out of memory" error messages with newer DVD's while trying to back them up? Madagascar and Toy Story 2 have been locking up and seizing my computer forcing a hard-reset while trying to back up those DVD's. Using DVD Shrink and AnyDVD/Nero Recode 2 have the same results. Researched it online and found that there is a new version of Macrovision Ripguard out that is causing this.

There are several complicated workarounds out using various programs, but the easiest I have found is to use AnyDVD together with CloneDVD2. I'm not sure why AnyDVD defeats Ripguard used in conjunction with CloneDVD, but not in conjunction with Recode or Shrink.

Somehow Ripguard uses the entire program buffer until it reaches zero, causing the program to stop and in some cases (with Shrink) causes a hard lock up (can't even ctrl-alt-del out of it). This happens no matter what the windows swap file is set to.

It definitely helps to have a whole suite of tools to "archive" DVD's these days. We better back up our movies while we still can, as I think our days are numbered with hardware-based DRM solutions around the corner. Looks like we are going to have to solder "mod chips" into our motherboards and dvd-burners in the future, not to mention hacking Vista.
