563897, No Desktop Icon Labels
Posted by aldago, Wed Feb-22-17 10:25 PM
I've got a really weird problem. Running Windows 10 Insider Preview version 1607 OS Build 15025.1 on a HP 64 bit laptop with 4GB RAM. System is dual boot with windows 7 and has been since the Win 10 insider program started. When I boot the system I get a desktop with icons but no labels beneath the icons. There is also no text in any context or other menus. When I restart the system everything comes back to normal. Text labels and text in menus comes back. Have no idea what to try except to reinstall the system while trying to keep my data. Another question: If I run Reset My PC what Windows version will I get after the reset, the original or the current version?

Have you tried right clicking a desktop shortcut icon, clicking Properties, and on the general tab checked to see if the icon's text title is missing?

If it is, type in a name and see if it will display on the desktop - after closing properties.

Jim.

Edit: Alternatively don't shut down your computer following the reboot that returns the labels. Put it into sleep mode.
