564744, Video Problems Destiny 2
Posted by GreyFalcon, Wed Dec-06-17 10:41 AM
I was happily getting into my new game, Destiny 2, when the computer turned off. Absolutely dead. I cleaned the computer, re-seated the processor and got nothing but a light on the motherboard. I tried my old GTX285, same thing, no response. Removed the video card and the computer fired up. I scrounged through my shed and found an old video card that fit the slots, no particular power requirements, no fan. After turning the power supply off and on the computer fired up but I had to run an old monitor. So It's kind of working but what happened? At first I thought it was my GTX970. It might be but the same thing happened with my GTX285 and I know that is a good video card. Then I thought it might be the motherboard but it runs the old video card so that is unlikely. Do you think the power supply might be the problem. It's a EVGA 850 modular. It runs the computer but could it have gone partially bad. Both video cards require two six prong additional power plugs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The game was absolutely stunning on a 32" Sharp TV that I have been using for a monitor and ran flawlessly until the lights went out.
