565944, network problem

I just purchased a new Surface Pro 6 to replace the original Surface Pro I bought years ago.

My new one is showing all the other machines on my home network, but when I try to open any of them it says "I don't have permission to access that drive"

The older Surface sitting right next to it opens up anything on those PC's just fine. What am I missing here??

Is the network type set to Private?
Have compared the sharing settings on the new Surface to the old one?
Are you using the same username and password on the new Surface?

I have both sitting next to each other and as far as I can see the sharing etc. settings are identical. I can open the network on the new one & see all the drives on my server which are all set to open sharing but when I try to open any of the drives it tell me I need permission from the network administrator (that is me on the entire network) LOL

Never mind, I figured it out.

What a PITA Windows can be & I did this stuff for years before I retired.
