If you set your settings as I did in Firefox, you will have a lot of additional popups - as I did. :7

EDIT: Ok, I just installed Chrome. At it's default setting(s), there is no popup but there are a lot of ads.

So, unless you've changed a lot of Chrome's settings, reset it to default and see if that helps.
