I damaged a motherboard by overzealously fastening an aftermarket fan/heatsink in place. I got carried away and tightened too much.

I'd like to replace the board with the same, or the same type of board. I'm aware that the kind of board I'm looking for has been long discontinued, and I'm prepared to look on the used market. The damaged board is a Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3. May I assume that barring finding the exact equivalent, I should be looking for a socket 1155, P67, revision B3 board?

Not revision B3, but one that supports B3 stepping, assuming that your processor has the B3 stepping. If you're not sure, post the model of your processor.

The B3 stepping is for 6th generation Intel processors, it looks like you have a 2nd generation i5. It will still be best if you get a replacement board with the same chipset to try to avoid driver and Windows activation problems.

My damaged board IS a B3 stepping. It's a GA-P67A-UD3P-B3. It worked perfectly for years, with my i5-2500k, overclocked to 3.8GHz. That's why I'm assuming if I can't find the same replacement board, any other socket 1155, p67, B3 stepping board would suffice.

I had a MSI P67 GD53 B3 board and replaced it with a P877 Vlk Asus board with no problems and still have it running with a 2500k as well so you're not restricted to just the P67 boards.

I appreciate your input. What chipset is that. I would like a listing of all other chipset boards that will accomodate the i5-2500k.

So apparently, I need to find a board with one of those chipsets, with stepping B3, and socket 1155. Please tell me if I'm incorrect.

Any of those H chipsets you can't overclock from what I remember so if that matters keep that in mind but otherwise you would be correct. I found mine locally using Craigslist and since those are still in demand will cost you almost as much as a new one.
