566601, Downloads Speed Posted by wtmpi, Wed Aug-19-20 01:14 AM
I am paying Spectrum for 200 mbps download. So I am told. For the last month of checking my speed I have not been above 25mps. I see advertised the devices to plug in throughout your residence to increase speed. Do they help or is it the modem that will not maintain the speed. I am wireless. Would it help if I am plugged directly in to the internet.

What is your device/computer? Wireless you won't hit 200. Wireless g you won't get much more than 20mbps Wireless n about 100mbps.

I had a similar issue but in my case I subscribe at 100 mbps.
I first had to update my modem to one that supports the higher speed. A list of supported modems for each speed level.
To get the speed on wifi I had to upgrade to an a/c mimo router that supports the higher wifi speed.
I now have >100 mbps on wifi and greaster range to boot.
Good luck!

Sorry, I'm working on a linux laptop right now and had posting
problem,
Line should say that a list of supported modems for each speed
level is posted on the Spectrum site.

How?
Note that in order to see "200" (among other things) the source must support at least that speed in their sending of a file.
So if slowdownloadsite.com only sends at 20 MB/s, you'll never see 200 from them.

What are these devices? (Sounds like snake oil to me.)
