I have an HP Pavilion with a 298GB Hard Disk partitioned in the following order:

Partition 1 is about 119GB with Windows 7 on it
Partition 2 is D: drive 60GB
Next partition is 10GB free space
Last partition is C:Drive Windows 10

I want to delete Windows 7, leave the D: drive and then combine everything so that I just have C: and D: drives.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When you are logged into each OS does each OS see itself as C: ?
Or is 7 C: & 10 E: (or something other then C: )?

If 10 is E: (or something other then C: ), I'm pretty sure that some C: must exist, need not be big, necessarily, but must be there.

Depending on disk layout, as in if the partitions are C: D: E: (in that order), you may need a 3rd. party utility to rearrange things. As in you won't be able to directly have E: acquire C:'s space.

(I'm not sure offhand how flexible 10's partition handling is in that respect, but pretty sure you'd need 3rd. party.)

You would want to make sure you've got backups prior to doing any repartitioning no matter how "simple" it might be.

Was this 10 a "upgrade" (cough) from 7?

You may want to start over.
Have everything backed up (more then once is even better).
Blow away all partitions.
Install 10. (Cough. You really want to do that ;-) ?)
Split 10 (which Windows should be able to do) into 2 partitions, the second being your 60 GB partition.
Install your programs.
Copy your data back in. ...

If, C: D; E:, & aside from the fact that I believe you'll need a C:, you may be able to delete partition D:, have C: acquire it, then resize C:, to 60 GB, then expand E:, having it acquire that freed up space.

Then you'd have a C: 60: GB & a E: 240 GB.

That might work, with Windows utilities, alone.

You'd have to back up (still), either copying D: to C: first, or restoring a backed up D: to C: after the fact.

Thanks for your response. The disk management copy of the structure is listed below. The C: drive is active Windows 10 and is the last partition on the disk. Unfortunately the beginning of the disk is the Windows 7 partition and, of course, Windows 10 won't allow me to mess with it. I'll probably have to use something like Gparted and try to delete the Windows 7 partition. Trying to make a backup will probably just image the entire disk and I'll get Windows 7 back. I don't know how to get around that. Can you help?

Since the last post I used gparted to delete the Windows 7 partiton. Of course the boot sector was on that partition so I had to restore the boot sector and the computer is operating as before. Now I'd like to merge everything into one partition, just the C: drive. So, I assume I have to move two partitions forward so that the disk looks like C:, then the other two partitions. I think, using gparted, my next moves are:
1. move the two partitions forward
2. merge the two moved partitions
3. Merge the new merged partition into the C: partition

I've never done this before so any advice or methodology will be appreciated. Do I have to format the unallocated space before the moves?
