found two different problems. First the disc drive went south, as I mentioned before. The second was a bad RAM stick from Crucial. Now this PC has been sitting unplugged for at least 6 months, why should this happen. I can imagine the disc failing because it has not been turned ON but failed RAM? The PC would not boot with this one stick installed. There were two of the same type installed and it will now boot with only one. I have not gotten any further investigating if it will install an OS. I think it is time to make it a boat anchor since it is a very old PC and the apps I used it for have been made only for XP.
It seems funny but a friend has called and stated his XP is also not able to boot. I have not gotten this PC but it will be interesting to see what failed on his.
