UK: Trump spying claim 'ridiculous.

LONDON (AP) - A spokesman for Britain's prime minister says the White House has promised that it won't repeat a claim that U.K. spies snooped on U.S. President Donald Trump.

Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesman, James Slack, says the British government has made it clear to the U.S. that the "ridiculous" claims should be ignored. He said Friday that Washington has assured Britain they will not be repeated.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer on Thursday cited Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano, who suggested that the British electronic surveillance agency GCHQ had helped then-President Barack Obama spy on Trump before last year's presidential election.

What gets me is why is the Trump Whitehouse quoting Fox News and others when they have the most sophisticated intelligence services in the world? Like the one guy said "it's like he forgets he's President and can pick up a phone and ask".

It's because the intelligence reports from the CIA/NSA/FBI/etc are complicated and Trump can't understand them. He's required them to give him one page briefings with no more than nine bullet points. Even your average PowerPoint presentation has more information in it. What's more, the information might go against what he wants to be true.

By contrast, a report on FOX News or Breitbart is simplified (thus more easily understandable by Trump) and will invariably support what Trump already "feels" is true. Thus, Trump governs based on reports from simplified right-wing news sources instead of detailed intelligence briefings.

Trump is grasping at straws in an ever more feeble attempt to vindicate his slanderous and incredibly imbecilic tweet that accused President Obama of illegally wiretapping Trump Tower. In the process he's not only called into question the integrity of the mainstream media, the FBI, the CIA and the Congressional Intelligence Committee, but he's reached out across the Atlantic to one of your staunchest allies to accuse a branch of British Intelligence of engaging in a conspiracy to do him and his laughable presidency in. This is completely nuts. Four months...
