You're absolutely correct.

Maybe they followed it up with this song during that concert but it seems appropriate to post a link here given the longevity of their relationship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPTOY8FrvNw

When music was music and lyrics were poetry. Thanks, Paul.

What a wonderful trip back to the time when music meant something. Thanks for posting, Paul. :--)

Brought back a lot of memories for me and it's good to see even young people love it too........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xysVNigCsU

I've been following the young lady on drums for 2 years now and have been a supporter in her endeavors just as long. It's good to see that the future of music is in good hands when I see young people playing music such as this.

It lives on in my house with my son, but none of the renditions rise to the original IMHO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4

Just curious. Why would you post a link to a version that is clearly NOT the original? The Simon And Garfunkel version IS the original and, I will offer my opinion (for what it's worth), clearly the best version of the song recorded thus far.

I was waiting for the Disturbed version to be mentioned, love it! S&G's version is the great but Disturbed's emotion is chilling. It puts a whole different meaning to the song IMO.

(GreyFalcon) Seriously? That is so NOT the original - only by 50 years.

(DaDwarfs) OK, I'm an old fogey, but for those of us who know and love the (real) original that version is bloody awful.

The point of the post is that 50 years on and after many years of both performing solo S&G are able to return to the stage and render the song so well again.

LOL I get your point but I was 18 when the original by S&G came out, so that makes me a little old lady. The new spin by Disturbed is still note worthy InMyPersonalOpinion

Which (opinion) is every bit as valid as mine. Musical taste is totally subjective.

What's up with you guys? I said it lives on with my son, I posted up his favorite version, we are obviously a generation apart and I said I didn't think any of the renditions lived up to original? What is confusing about that?

Actually (not that it matters) it was a little confusing the way you posted it. I like both versions as well.

I don't get a lot of sleep these days with what's going on with my wife. The ending should have been clear on what I meant. I generally put links at the end. On some forums I visit if I put a link in the middle of anything it gets screwed up so I have gotten in the habit of putting them at the end. I guess my intent would have clearer if the link was after the bit about my Son. It made sense to me at the time.

Sorry, I now understand what you were attempting to say. From your post, however, it appeared you were referring to the link as the original which, understandably, it definitely wasn't. I always liked the original, and I doubt any other version will stand up to it.

The original version is especially dear to me. It has always my favorite song since it came out. A classmate of mine a very good friend and Green Beret, oddly enough, started a two person group after the Vietnam war and I swear they could sing as well or better than Simon and Garfunkel. The odd part was I never heard him sing a note until he returned. Funny what things like war will do to you. As amazing as that was I don't think all of him ever made it back. I lost track of him and never saw him again. Through those years I thought a lot about that song, still do.
