It's gone far beyond embarrassing. This ignorant knuckle-dragging buffoon has become an existential threat to the stability of a European-American alliance that has kept the peace of the developed world since the end of WWII. An alliance that was constructed, nurtured and preserved over all previous administrations, Republican and Democratic, since Truman introduced the Marshall plan to help rebuild a devastated Western Europe and keep it from the clutches of an expansive Soviet Union. That this chimerical madman has been allowed to attain such enormous power does not speak well for the ethos of an America that, despite it's many faults, was still the best hope for the future of humanity. Four more years of this insanity seems intolerable and may well do all of us in.
