Our local tv news station reported that Pete Sampras will officially announce his retirement on Monday.

I'm sad i did not get a chance to see him play live. Winner of 14 grand slam titles - he will definitely be missed.

Yes, a true gentleman of the sport. Well I dont remember him ever spitting the dummy. He will be missed.

Well it's about time! Just kidding, one of tennis' greatest players and I will miss him out on the court. Hell, if I was married to Bridgette Wilson, I'd be retiring too. }(

He was a true gentleman, one that his critics called "colourless and boring", a credit to his profession. A disputed line call resulted in nothing more than a disapproving look. For this reason he was never a true crowd pleaser like Andre Agassi. Would that the current crop of professional athletes emulate his "boring" ways. :-)
