92660, Waldo Died of a Heart Attack
Posted by hal9000, Sun Aug-21-05 03:16 AM
I just called the phone number I had for Waldo and his father told me he died of a heart attack in late May. During my time here, Waldo and I became good friends; we e-mailed each other on a regular basis and I had planned on going to South Carolina to visit him.

He was 44 years old.

I just happened to check the forum tonight by chance.

I'm devastated.

A young man and a sad loss.
This forum has lost too many in recent times.
My condolences to his family.

Thank you hal for letting us know.

I didn't know him very well but i do know he was a regular here for quite some time. It is so unfortunate that he died so young. My best condolences to his family. May you rest in peace Waldo.

(I think that makes for like the 3rd or 4th person who has died this year on our forum. Depressing news!)

OMG, I too am devastated and very sad with this news. I am so upset right now.....

Waldo and I became friends here also as we found some common ground with him being from South Carolina. All of my father's family was from SC. Knowing that about Waldo that is how the friendship began in February of 2003. We continued to exchange emails and PM's and he was the sweetest and most caring guy. I loved his humor..... I got my last PM from Waldo on April 30, 2005 and I knew it had been awhile since hearing from him, this wasn't like him not to write or check in here. *sigh* I should have stayed in better touch but I was wrapped up in my own crazy world...

I will share this picture that Waldo sent me along with the last quote in his email to me....

"I would rather make my friends laugh than almost anything in this world."
"Waldo T. Gatorr"(do you really have to guess what the T stands for?)

Don't you ever be to hard to find, now, honey! Ya here me girl? *big smile* waldo!!!!!!!!

And did he ever make me smile and laugh, I will truly miss Waldo.

RIP my friend

Thank you Hal for letting us know, I am just so sorry to hear this news. ;(

Oh, Jan, thanks so much for sharing that photo and Waldo quotes. He sent me that pic also. I cannot begin to tell you how sad I feel. Thank you too, Grogan and the rest for your comments. This makes all the differences I've ever had with anyone on this board seem so petty now.

Sad news indeed especially at that young age. I must admit I've been wondering where Al is too. I hope he's alright. Any update would be appreciated :(

I did a search when Roberto posted about Waldo last night to see when he'd last posted and saw it was April - made me uneasy. Now the confirmation. So young, so sad. :(

RIP Waldo - You'll be missed

Nice to see you Hal even if not the best of reasons.

When I first joined PC Q&A, I was having a spirited discussion with freespirit (I think that's the right name). It was getting a bit out of hand, but Waldo sent me the first private message I ever received. Got me to laughin' and set my head on straight about forum discussions.

My prayers to him and his family.

My prayers to him and his family.

Thanks so much for sharing your kind comment. Freespirit was an old friend of mine who use to post here frequently in the days when there were many heated discussions here; in spite of the many differences we all had, Waldo always tried to bridge the gap with the spirit of friendship and diplomacy.

I still remember Waldo from his DEAN MARTIN avatar. I think I'm right in that.
Always thought he was as cool as ole Deano.

We lost too many members this year. But at 44 years of age, so young and so much to live for.

RIP ole buddy.

It's sad to see someone die so young. We can never know themeasure of our days. My grandfather died at 103, my father at 42, all we can do is live each day as if it was our last.

I didn't know him, but if he hung out around here, and was liked by everybody here, he must of been a "Great" guy.

Wished I'd been here at this Forum a lot sooner. You really get to know a person's Personality after awhile.

My Condolences to his family and friends.

Shelly,

I had no idea your father died so young; seems you inherited your grandfather's genes; I wish you a long life, Shelly. At the risk of sounding maudlin, every time I take a peek here, it warms my heart to see you're still here.

This is just a way for that hal9000 to show that he/she/it has feelings.
hal9ooo is so ***king pathetic!! and so full of bs!!

somebody tell him/her/it to get a "real" life!! he/she/it is nothing but coniving and devious. and is using this to play on everyone' emotions. shame, shame, shame.

>Nice first post.

No kidding, that's :bs:

Well I don't believe it as Waldo spoke many times over the last two years to me of Hal and it was all good.

I think it is terrible that you come here and again make your first post on a thread in remembrance of Waldo of this kind. *sigh* Some people never cease to amaze me..... what a shame.

How's the weather in Spain? That's a long way from New York. Speaking of devious, there's not much credibility for those who submit forum posts through proxy servers. Especially one within a network that is notorious for being the origin of SPAM and other fraudulent activities.

HAL isn't unknown here Thelma - you are.

You may not agree with idea's HAL has but his sincerity in this instance is unquestionable. You know nothing of the relationship between Hal and Waldo or between Hal and this forum. Until you do hold your tongue or go back to the forum where Hal obviously rattled your cage.
