"Firefox and passwords "

I am running Firefox on a Windows 10 laptop
I used to be able to get firefox to save passwords for web site
now I cant get it to do that

I got to Tools > Options > security tab > and there there is the Box for "Remeber Login for Sites"

so that is where I would enable the ability for firefox to save password for sites
only for me this check box is greyed out and I cant put a check in it.
so I cant seem to enable the ability for firefox to remember login information anymore

can you help me with this
I have a lot of sites I go to and its nice to be able to have a browser keep login information

thank yo for your help

Greg

URL of the site you want to save the password?

Might depend on the particular site.
A site can set things to not allow saving of passwords.

If that is the case, sometimes something like "remember password" can help.

(I believe FF may have a similar setting, about:config, but which Pref it may be, assuming there is one, escapes me.)

Thanks for trying to help

while I was waiting for a response here that the forum
I decided to do some searching online for this topic
and I found the answer that worked for me

Somebody mentioned > that Firefox does not allow passwords to be saved if you set your browser to Not save history.

So I looked and I had it set that way.
so I went to Options and to Privacy tab
and then set it to be able to remember history

and once I did that > the option to have the browser store passwords was restored.

so I got the issue fixed
I just wanted to post about it > in case there are any others who come into this issue.

thanks again for trying to help
sometimes not allowing certain functions in a browser can prevent other options from working properly

thanks again
have a great day

I don't think he understands you were referring to a different thread - maybe post the link to it for him.
