It's been a while since I posted a question so here goes.
This is an HP Stream tablet. So unlike HP it has no part number or model designation other than Stream. when you turn it ON there is a request for an Administrator or Power ON password. After three attempts an error code is displayed. On this tablet it is: 63467458
I went onto the HP Forum site and this is a known error condition but the link to the solution and the poster of the solution has been closed.
I have tried various F keys on Boot with no solution. One suggestion on the HP forum was to remove the CMOS battery. Well this has only one battery and it is the main. Also there are no screws on the bottom so I can not figure out how to separate the keyboard from the case. I got it partially unclamped but it appears something else is holding it together.
Any help would be great. I don't see the owner paying $99 for a year of help when this tablet probably only cost $200.
Sorry, that did not work, it still went into the password request on Blue Screen. The HP Forum probably need a login to be able to see the post related to the answer to the original post.
I think I'll continue to try to get to post my request.
I have just started messing with tablets. They are usually tabbed together. If you want to open them start at a slot in the case where you can work a credit card or something similar between the plastic halves and start running it along the edge until the tabs start separating and popping apart. all the buttons should be micro switches but watch things like micro SD cards that are easily broken. Please don't ask me how I know. They do make a tool for this but I haven't gotten one yet.
QUOTE: This also did not work. I even tried the Volume Down button and Power ON with no success.
Keep trying, the first tablet I tried to restore gave me fits trying to get into the restore menu. It finally worked and I couldn't tell you which combination of volume up down or both I used but one finally got me to a black screen where you can use volume up/down to highlight the action you want and on /off to implement it.
