"When is it a good time to upgrade to a new router? "

Good day all,

Recently I've noticed that my TP link Arcer 1750 router hasn't gotten a software update since 2018. I've had it for almost fives years now. Should it be upgraded? Thanks

You can google the brand and model to find out the latest firmware version, then check the version on your unit.

IMO, if it works and is not hindering performance, run it till it dies.

Thanks lenjack and nightlyreader

I've checked and the last firmware update dates back to 2018. No fear about security with the last update going back almost three years?

They have different hardware versions of this router. You're looking at version five but I have version two. Thanks for the follow up.

It's not always a question of how it works. Sometimes, new firmware has improved security.

Thats what I was thinking also. 2018 seems like a long time for security updates.
