I'm back in search of more expert advice. I noticed in a few posts that many of you feel that a 300-350w PS in insufficient. I have an Antec case right now and am wondering what site I'm likely to get the best deal on a 400w at?

Go here... http://www.directron.com/powersupplies.html The Directron site was extremely slow this morning...they're probably updating or doing maintenance. Try later or be patient. If you have one nearby...CompUSA carries them for $99.99.
The one at CompUSA is an Antec model PP 403X. AMD approved with a smart fan that adjusts its speed to the temperature it senses. An excellent value. Also available online if a store is not nearby.
I've had very good luck with www.newegg.com. They have a Sparkle 400W for $75. But unless you're really running a lot of gear 400W seems like overkill. I'm running a Sparkle 350W that I got for $55 and no problems: AMD 1800XP+, 512meg of DDRRAM, two 7200rpm hard drives, CD-ROM, CD-RW, a GeForce video card, three case fans, WinXP, and have no glitches whatsoever. But more power sure doesn't hurt anything. And I would recommend Newegg very highly. I've ordered a lot of stuff from them and the service has been first rate.
