i can't get win2000 cd to self boot when restart computer. it worked before, but not anymore. it can't even self boot in regular window(popping the win2000 out and back in). i think it has somthing to do with after i typed in fdisk /mbr in my boot floppy disk. i tried to boot with the floppy disk, access my cdrom drive, and use the setup file in the win2000 cd, but it said something like unable to setup win2000 in dos mode. i'm trying to install windows2000. how can i fix this? i don't even remember how to access my cmos anymore. i tried holding down the shift key, the ctrl key, none worked. when first start up, it doesn't said anything that would let me access the cmos. it's an compaq Presario 1200 laptop. thanks.

F10 normally gets into the BIOS on Compaqs.
You need to change the boot order to boot from the CD-ROM first, then insert the Windows 2000 CD and reboot. Watch out for a message like "Press any key to press from CD...." - after a few seconds, it will automatically skip past.
When the Win2k setup starts, choose to repair your current installation.
