I was thinking of taking Beth out to a nice dinner for our 6 month anniversary, but that will fall on December 24th. Since that's Christmas eve, everyone will most likely be shut down. We'll probably go to our favorite Chinese buffet. The buffet isn't all that great (not bad, but not exceptional), but I love their mongolian BBQ. You fill a bowl with the ingredients (beef, chicken, pork, squid, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, pineapple, etc.) and sauce you want, hand it to the chef, and he cooks it up right in front of you. The bowls are a bit small, but it's all you can eat. (They have a great red pepper hot sauce. I once put 3 spoons of this stuff in my bowl and had to drink an entire pitcher of water per bite. I've tended to steer clear of it after that.)

We just went back to that Mongolian BBQ place again a few nights ago. It's not as good as we remember. The stir-fry was ok, but the all-you-can eat buffet just isn't that good anymore.

Of course, since we went there last, I've taken to making stir-fry myself. It's very easy and for some reason tastes better when you make it yourself. I can post a recipe if anyone's interested. (It's a very loosely followed recipe that basically amounts to "toss in whatever you have." )

My sister will make turkey. I imagine if it wasn't for me she'd have ham, but I hate ham. If it was up to me it would be deer roast.

Yep...spiral sliced ham, smashed spuds, julienne green beans.

For Thanksgiving, he made a pork loin roast, covered with garlic oil, with cloves of garlic inside at various points...smashed spuds, and creamed corn...no dessert...wonderful leftovers

Just the 2 of us.

Another good recipe site: http://www.allrecipes.com/

I like that they let you set up a "recipe box" with all of your favorites. (Or in my case, a bunch of recipes that I want to try, but haven't had the time to. ) Plus they can scale the recipe for you. Who needs to make a side dish for 12 when there's only 2 of you?

Its a sweedish sausage that my family has made for about 85 years. it is made with ground beef and pork, barley and onions. we get together with all the familys to make it. We mix it by had and then stuff it into casings. we then let it hang to ferment. Good stuff.

Sounds good (the family thing sounds good too). Italian sausage, kielbasa and chourico are popular in the New England area where I'm from. Chourico is a Portuguese sausage and my favorite. May this years korv be the best yet! Oh, and don't eat to much.

yeah, The family thing is great since I now have a family of my own. Kinda wish my grandparents were around to see my kids.

On a lighter note. We are now a little more hygenic. we use rubber gloves when we mix the meat by hand.

Usually, A good size Chicken, Some Honey Baked Ham, and Alasken King Snow Crab Legs for the meats.

Some Sweet potatoes, Mash, Stuffings (German and American), Corn, Salads, Lots of Gravy, some Caseroles...

Feeding about 20 people so go figure.

With 18 to feed, the men, who do the cooking, do a turkey(medium sized) and ham and a pork loin roast. And of course, all the trimmings.

Once in a while the loin is replaced with baked salmon (to die for). The salmon goes first when we do it. heeheeheehee! I suspect that the loin will become a thing of the past.

If it was good enough for Benjamin Franklin, it is good enough for me.

Dear "Old Ben" wanted the Turkey to be our national bird. Good thing he didn't succeed, or we would all be unable to eat turkey, and would therefore probably be eating the (gulp) bald eagle.

turkey! And roast beef, seafood, chicken, and some years wild game such as venison, pheasant, duck....

And then we drive through the park to see the miles of outdoor Christmas light displays
