"error message for floppy"


          

Hello and thanx in avance for any help,
When my computer comes on I am getting this message:
"floppy disk(s) fail=(40)
The PC will still come on when I press Esc, but then I can't access the floppy.

Sounds like either the ribbon cable to it either came loose, or is in backwards. The comp isn't seein the floppy at all.

if that isn't it, replace the floppy.

If the ribbon were in backwards the floppy drive light would come on and stay on constantly and the drive would not be recognized.   (Sounds like I know what I'm talking about, right?   Three guesses as to why I know this.)

Um, same reason i know it?? LOL. It does sometimes give the error 40 tho.

In bios is your Drive A: set to look for the correct size floppy drive?

The floppy cable had become disconnected from the mobo. It works fine now, I was worried for a while,
