"unable to scan disk in win2000"


          

how do you scan disk in win2000. i don't see the options anywhere. when looked under system tool, i see disk clean up and disk defrag, but no scan disk?

. Two ways to get to it. Right click on a drive, and view properties. On the tools tab, click the Error Checking button. If you don't check the boxes to fix errors and check for bad blocks, it will do a read only scan. If it fails, it will inform you that it was unable to complete the scan and you'll have to say "yes" to schedule it at boot time.

If you check the boxes, it will prompt you to schedule it at boot time.

The other way to get to it is to simply open a command prompt and type chkdsk /f which will by default, prompt you to schedule a scan at boot time, on the system volume. Otherwise chkdsk /f <drive letter:> to choose which volume you wish to check.
