"Missing Gameport?"

I was trying to install my Joystick (MS Sidewinder) and can't get the PC to recognize it. When I go to the contol panel and try to add new joystick I get this message.

I tried deleting and reinstalling the gameport in the device manager but still no help.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Look for duplicate devices in Safe Mode. Boot to safe mode by pressing F8 before the starting windows message appears and choosing safe mode from the menu. In safe mode, go to Device Manager and expand the Sound and Game Controllers tree. Try cleaning out all devices (duplicates included) from the sound and game controllers category and restart normally. Windows should detect your sound card, related components and the game port. (you may have to supply drivers)

If it doesn't (after doing what I said in Safe Mode), you can try the Add New Hardware wizard in control panel. It might pick it up.

Have a look at this:
