"noise running toshiba laptop"

i'm using a toshiba laptop right now. it's about a year old. i notice that my toshiba laptop makes considerable more noise when runnning than the dell laptop that my friend has. his is an inspiron 2650 and it's about 2 years old. is this normal that the toshiba laptop makes more noise when running than the dell laptop? would the noise mainly caused by the fan?
thanks.

I can't say for sure if your machine is noisier than normal. But I use a Toshiba Satallite 1800 for work and when the fan kicks in I think it's pretty noisy.

Hi, If it's any help, I have a Tecra 6000, and when the fan cuts in it sounds like Concorde taking off, or should I say like she used to sound!
Sincerely,
Richard.
