I tried that version and had all kinds of problems with it. Went back to version 2.91 which works fine.

you can get these old versions below:

I'm useing 5.09 and don't have any issues. I think it was v3.0 that really sucked and every one went back to v2.91, which works just fine.

I use 5.092 without a problem. Version 2.91 was better than version 3, but when 5 came out, that was a combination of the 2 versions nad it rocks.
Foobar may be lighter in resources, but when it comes down to sound, ain't nothing like Winamp.

Baloney. It's according to what decoder and output component you use. There's several to choose from. Right now I'm using the MAD audio decoder and the ASIO output component. Foobar2K spanks the llama's ass.

I'm using WinAmp 5.08e and have not had any problems with the audio quality. I also use the DFX plugin to enhance the sound.

Used to be a 2.9 user along with the MExp plugin (playlist manager). But version 5 has it's own playlist manager and it works well. I switched to version 5 because version 2.9 would not work with WindowBlinds that I had recently installed.

Glad I made the switch.

Maybe your system is low in resources and WinAmp 5 might require more resources, thus pushing your system and causing sound issues??
