"no harddrive dectects on winxp pro clean install"
I just bought myself a new computer and I want to clean install it with winxp pro. I boot it with winxp pro and it went into it's usual copy file, then when the options come up to press enter to install winxp pro, it said that it does not detect any harddrive. I'm not sure why it would said that since I can boot it up with its currently run winxp home. i wonder if it has anything to do with the pentium D. Thank you for any response. 1l System Specs: dimension 9150 (dell DXP051) pentium D 2.80GH 512MB RAM 160G HD winxp home (currently running)

It probably has something to do with a needed driver for SATA and/or RAID. Did you get any driver CDs and possibly a diskette with this machine, or is it one that Dell has quit shipping that stuff with?
Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.

Thank you for responding. There wasn't any driver disk that came along, but I found a folder on the C drive that has the driver. I saw that there is an Sata driver, so I went into device manager (i didn't see any question mark), i went under disk drive and update the driver. However, it said something like wizard cannot find a better match for the hardware than the software you currently have installed. Am I doing something incorrect?
