W10. My usb keyboard has been skipping letters lately. Will I encounter any problems if I temporarily switch over to an old spare ps/2 unit? Is it a simple uninstall/ install?
o cang. First sentence was supposed to be "No change". What would cause this? Can't type a sentence without missing letters.
It's a Gateway SX2855, originally W7 Ultimate, 32 bit, upped to W10 Pro, legal and activated. HD switched out for SSD 2 months ago with no issues. Problem started 3 weeks ago.
A Google search turns up a lot of people having this problem but with no clear cause and no single answer on how to fix it. Do a Google search for keyboard missing keystrokes windows 10
Some thoughts and questions: Are letters missing only when typing using your browser (which browser?), or in other programs such as Word, Notepad, your email program?
Since this started just a few weeks ago, have you considered System Restore, if available, back to an earlier time?
Are you using a 3rd party Anti-virus program? Have you done full scans, and also scanned with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, or similar programs?
Have you updated drivers?
Have you uninstalled your Keyboard in device manager and allowed Windows to find it again on reboot?
