"Microsoft really pisses me off"

Every version of Windows since XP has deleted abilities to customize Windows. I used to be able to change menu colors, font and text size, icon spacing, icon font and test size and many other options. The latest update is even worse. I am legally blind and need to change the text size and make it bold in the detail view in Windows Explorer and cannot find a way to do this. Anyone know?

I believe I see what you're saying. In Windows Explorer Icon size is easy to increase but the text that accompanies the icon remains small. It's the same for font size in Detail view.

It can be adjusted but it will take a bit of fiddling with font size and probably screen resolution.

Go to Settings > System > Display > Change the size of text, apps and other items. The largest size that is preset is 175%. That may be large enough but if not, click Custom Scaling and it can be set much larger - but with (possibly great) ramifications to your other displays, including desktop icons, internet web pages, resolution, etc. Some of their sizes can be reset separately from Windows Explorer - for example Internet Explorer.

Anyway good luck trying this.

Thanks Jim, but I already have size set to 175.

You can set it up to 500% by using Custom Scaling - just click on it to set the percentage.

Thanks Jim - I know that, but it screws up screen size - no way to scroll to the bottom. And thanks for using the large font size. I found an adequate solution, if not optimal. I roll the mouse wheel up and that increases the size of the items in detail view - not as much as I'd like, but better than before. Next step is to get the detail items in BOLD.

Do you use the built-in Magnify feature accessed by pressing the Win Key plus the "+" key on your keyboard (or from your mouse, if the feature is available)?

Press the Win Key plus the ESC key to close the Magnify feature.

One or more of the Views plus the Magnification settings should be able to make it a bit easier to read the Details list.

Your mouse should be able to move the Lens around the screen if you use that setting.

Yes, I have used the magnifier for years. I prefer the "docked" view at the top of the screen. I stumbled on an interesting feature: CTRL + mouse wheel changes the size of desktop icons.

If your Mouseware allows re-setting a spare button on your mouse to magnify, I think you would like the Full screen magnify setting. On my MS mouse, it's easy to set. I understand the feature can also be set on Logitech mouses. A simple press of the selected mouse button will turn on or off the magnified full screen. Set the magnification at 300% or 400% and even small text that doesn't increase in size when icon size is increased should be easy to read.
