What would make me unable to install Windows 7 (Blue screen from either a cd or a usb boot drive) from an install that's worked in the past? Hardware issue??

The usual culprits would be memory or hard drive. It could be related to your second post. I would eliminate all possibilities first. If you are reinstalling because of previous problems you want to verify that the hard drive and memory are good first. A good quick way to check would be a Linux live CD. They are usually very good at flagging problems while loading the CD and may have a memory check on the CD.
Thanks Grey Falcon. I replaced the hard drive to see if it would help but no change. I added some memory also but maybe the memory that was there to begin might be damaged. I did however run memtest and found no issues.
The other interesting thing is that I only have trouble trying to install it. It will give me a few blue screen but once it finally ends up passing a certain point, I'm able to install it and I never have issues with it while it's running. Is there something about the install process that's more demanding than actually running the Os that would make it so unstable during install but fine during actual operation?
