"Need easy advice from you guys"

Ok, I have replaced a few HD/s in my time. But this is my work Laptop and I really cant screw it up. It is a new Dell Ins. 5567 with 250 SSD. I got a 500 SSD and am just going to replace smaller one. I have Win 10 on 16g sd that I know is good as I have already put it on another pc with out a hitch. There is very little I need off of here in terms of files. I sell Mobile homes and I have everything in the cloud and zip files saved. Mostly all else can be lost. I will put my pics on a thumb drive, but thats it. So.... Just swap and install???

Don't really see how that would matter one way or the other.
And I would think ? that there would be a shortcut key to bring up a boot (order) menu in any case?

Think about redundancy. If it can't be replaced, have two copies.

I got it to boot by putting it in legacy mode but it still takes forever so I know something is not right

When you made your bootable USB device...Did you format it Fat32? Since you say it's a new laptop it more than likely has UEFI Bios. You have to format it Fat32 or it won't be seen in the Bios.

The usb is good, i had tried it on another pc after I made it. It was because i messed with the boot up menu. I did not realize there was no option for my sd card and adaptor to boot from. My own fault, then i could not fix it. Seems to be much better now, still longer then before but good, so I am not going to mess any more. I just get carried away from time to time. New SSD is great!

OK, just to end this as it was not solved here. I have found the answer, now to fix it. Apparently when I went in to change boot order I changed to legacy boot, and installed my PS. tHus the slow boot and the only way OS is recognized is in Legacy. I will now try ,,,, and pray i think this out to reinstall my OS in UEFI, and hope that fixes. I read TONS of threads everywhere , knowing it had something to do with that but finally ran across ONE that describes what I did exactly.
