"CCleaner update loop"
Wed May-16-18 06:11 PM by bobbo

I have downloaded and installed the latest CCleaner and when I run it there's a notification that there is an update. The version I have runs OK, but keep getting the update notice.

Update: Finally broke out of the loop, after several tries, and am now running version 442.

I was able to get it without it looping.

But, I noticed two things. It removed my pcqanda cookie from its Cookies to Keep list, and added an Avast cookie to keep - even though Avast wasn't downloaded nor their site visited. There was no actual Avast cookie, only CCleanter's listed exclusion that it wouldn't be deleted if found in a subsequent CCleaner scan - not that cookies are removed anymore since MS's change to deprecated cookies.

Jim.

I noted that there was a check to add Avast when installing CCleaner.

I wasn't referring to that - though for me there was no box to uncheck the Avast download this time - unlike I've had to do with several past CCleaner updates. And, no Avast wasn't installed.

I was referring to CCleaner's Options setting for Cookies.

Not sure if it matters but I use the portable version.

I don't know about the portable version's number.

But, I think I may have found an answer to the "looping". I just checked to see if there was an additional update and I saw that the update page indicated the version you have is listed as now available.

So, I downloaded it, but the version I just now downloaded is the version number that I already have.

Since I have CCleaner's update notification turned off in Settings, I don't get a looping notification to update to your version - but which turns out to be the version I already have.

Jim.

Finally got latest version. This has been a weird update, never had this kind of problem with updates of this program before now.
