"Chrome OS install"
Mon Sep-10-18 08:35 PM by oxygenmaker

I'm thinking of installing chrome os on an old windows laptop.... it is a dell inspiron 1525 special edition with vista home installed. I haven't used this computer in about 2 years. I have downloaded chrome os on a usb stick and installed the battery and charged her up! Should I dual boot set up to keep vista and the file and programs on her or just install and wipe vista, et all out?? Any help/guidance is, I assure you, very appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance.

If you haven't fired it up in 2 years just wipe it and leave the recovery partition if you want to revert.

If you haven't used the computer for 2 years, is there anything on it that you want to keep or that you think you'll want to use again? If there's data, back it up or move it to another computer. If there is some old program that won't run on a newer computer, then you need to keep the Vista partition. Otherwise you can wipe the Vista partition. It has been out of support for a while.

Behind every good computer... is a jumble of wires 'n stuff.

I figured if it hadn't been used in 2 years there wasn't anything they wanted on it .

I have no experience with Chrome o/s but it could be slow because it is loaded into ram to run and might not leave much for actual operations. What version 32 or 64 bit? What specs is the laptop?
