"How to get into safe mode?"
Sat Sep-15-18 03:08 AM by Stevehiker

I have a dual boot of Windows 7 and 8. I'm trying to get into safe mode to see if I can uninstall Avast. Apparently, I didn't uncheck a box; I'm thinking that it was a Ccleaner update. When I try to uninstall from control panel it says Avast is currently running. I've tried pressing F8 from a restart, but it doesn't work. Windows 7 is the one I'm trying to get into safe mode.

Edit: I did uninstall Avast; it finished loading, I guess. I'd still like to know how to get into safe mode, though.

Steve

I'm guessing you're using the 8.1 boot loader so this might help.

Oops, I meant to put down Windows 7 and Windows 10, but since 8 comes after 7----
welll. I have 7 and 10 (not 8).

What about Windows 7, because that's the operating system that I wanted to get into safe mode on.

Start>Run>type in MSCONFIG>click OK. Click on the Boot tab. Select Safe Boot under Boot Options and select Minimal or whichever other sub option you want. Click OK. Click Restart.

Jim.

Thanks Jim; I did go to msconfig and saw the 'safe boot', so I know what to do if I do need to go there.
