"Transfer of files"

All of my files are on my laptop, which has windows 7. I am contemplating purchasing a new laptop. All of the files are backed up but I am wondering how I transfer files from windows 7 to windows 10 or can it be done.

It's very easy. You will need a USB 3.0 hard drive (3.0 because they are faster and the cord plug is much sturdier than the wimpy 2.0 versions). Very reasonable price these days. Click on your name in the menu and it will open all of your files where they live on your computer (Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Videos, Favorites, Downloads, etc. Copy the data and you are ready for the change. You will have to start with a clean slate and reinstall all your programs. (a good time to weed out what you haven't used in forever) If you prefer the win 7 menu you can install Start 10 or something similar and you will have your win 7 menu back. Good luck.

("Simply said") for the transfer of "data" files (pictures, documents, music...), network the two computers together & copy from one to the other.
