"Help Needed"

My PC problem is too complex for me... I recently purchased a new processor and motherboard already installed in a mid-tower. I had hoped to use very little help when I converted from my old PII 233 to the new Celeron 800. I would swap my 20GB drive, CD-ROM and CD-RW and 1 FDD. I have a Rage Xpert 128 PCI and a Soundblaster PCI128.
The existing OS was Win2000 Pro. Upon making sure that everything was in place, I powered up and was no longer able to run Win2000. I was told to reformat my drive and start again. I continously get a blue screen that indicates my C drive is corrupt and can not be repaired. I was able to use WinME as it is a bootable CD. I have operated like this for about 1 1/2 months.
I now have purchased a Maxtor 7200 RPM 40 GB drive, installed it and have the same problem.
The store where I purchased to MB (Future Power) and processor conveniently get busy when they see me come in the door. I won't buy from them again. PLEASE HELP...

A good place to start is our How-To page. There you will find easy to understand articles with step-by-step instructions about installing hard drives, partitioning and formatting, and installing Windows. Click the link at the top of this page.

If there was only a 'how to' on getting the cover off! (I'm not kidding).

If I'm understanding you correctly you are trying to use the Windows 2000 that was installed on your other motherboard? You will have to do a clean install of Windows 2000. If you are trying to save stuff off your HD put it back on the old motherboard and backup any files you might need. I noticed two people have already responded to this LOL while I'm hunting an pecking away!!

Thanks for the responses. I can Partition and Format my drive. It is totally clean and has no OS on it (just purchased this week). Part way through loading Win2000, I receive an error that says my drive is corrupt and can not be repaired. I would buy this if if were not the 2nd drive to indicate this.

Go into the Bios and make sure the virus warning is disabled. Also since you are in there turn off any Power Management for the bios let Windows handle that. Save and Exit. Maybe find a Windows 98 bootdisk instead of the Me one. I read somewhere, here it is, not the same message you're getting but worth looking into. Hope some of this helps.
