Now running dual boot Win 98SE & Win XP Pro. Loaded easily, but I'm sorry to say, I don't know where a thing is located yet. Even succeeded in getting on the Internet although networking is very screwed up.
First things, first.
How do I transfer my Favorites from Win 98 SE to XP? How do I use my Outlook Express folder in Win 98SE for mail in XP so I don't get confused about which messages are available on which OS(they're both the same version that goes with IE 6)?
IMPORTANT! Before you do anything else, download critical updates for XP. There are several, and, one that corrects some problems with file migration. When you're ready to migrate, search for that word in XP help and go to the 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard'.
An XP feature you may like as much as I do is 'Hibernate'. When you are ready to shut down your machine for the day, you can hibernate all the settings and they'll pop back up just as you left them next time you fire up. If, when you shut down, you have a 'Stand-by' button on the left of the shut down options, press Shift and it'll change to 'Hibernate' for as long as you hold the shift key down. Click on it and your system will hibernate and turn off automatically.

To import Favorites in the IE6 browser, simply go to File/Import and export, and point the Wizard to the Favorites folder in your Win98 Windows directory.
In OE6 if you go to Tool, Options, click on the Maintenance tab there is a selection: Store Folder. You could select a common storage file for your messages in 98 and XP and therefore have access to all messages from either OS. At least I belive it would work. Seems likely. Of course if you're using NTFS for XP, it would have to be on a FAT 32 otherwise 98 can't find it. Just a thought.

The best way I have found is to use another partition (in your case a third). I call my partition simply Data. Move your Favotites, My Documents, etc., to the alternate location and make a Registry change to reflect it's location. For XP, see the following from www.tweakxp.com:
For Win9X, find the corresponding Registry entry make the same change pointing to the new location. Using this scheme, you can easily backup and if you need to clean install, all you have to do is repeat the above steps and quicly you are back in business.

'Ont know. I only use OE for Newsgroups and never retain any messages. In Outlook, I also change my location (the process is a little different although easier in Outlook 2002) to my Data partition.
Give the new interface a fair chance. I know it seems strange at first, but I think you will come to like it. I changed the default color scheme to "Silver", which is easier on the eyes.
I don't like the distribution of elements on the XP interface (I rather use the classic), but I like the colors. So I use Jasmin 3D Color Changer (http://www.pcnineoneone.com/downloads/fun.html) to first, save XP interfaces (blue, silver, and green), and then apply those colors into the classic interface.
