"Getting Ready for Christmas - Toys for Tots" Fri Nov-10-06 03:13 AM by _Chewy_
I was watching a re-run of Dr. Phil's show today and at the end of the show he did a little segment on his Toys for Tots campaign. Normally, the U.S. Marines do a bang up job every year - but due to the war in Iraq - he says there are far less soldiers available to carry on the task here in the states. Even more importantly, they need money. Real badly. Last year, they collected approx. 7 million toys for 12 million kids. That means there were a lot of kids with absolutely no Christmas presents. I am unemployed at the time, but still managed to donate a little bit - I really feel strongly about this. It would be great to see some members here open up their pocketbook and put a smile on some kid's face this year.
You can make a direct donation (via Dr. Phil's website) here. Or you can snail mail a check to his foundation:

Chewy, I don't know about you, but im amazed that im the only one who has contirbuted so far because of your post. I do realize that there are many worthwhile charities so maybe that is the reason. Thanks again for the post.

Gowen I hear what you're saying. I've contributed the lack of responses partly due to the November elections and everyone's been too preoccupied with it to give it much thought. Plus there may have been some people who donated but didn't want to post in the thread. Hopefully as the holiday season approaches closer, people might give further thought to donating to this very worthwhile cause.
