Without taking sides in this debate I would like to ask you one question:

Even if global warming is not a problem, what is there in the suggestions for change put forward by Gore and other supporters of the global warming position which is unpalatable to you?

Apparently you are against the suggestions, otherwise you wouldn't spend so much energy trying to discredit the messengers.

Personally I find religion to be ridiculous, but feel that the 10 commandments have something to offer anyway. In a similar vein, I think that the changes to our lifestyle suggested in the film are pretty good ideas in general, regardless of the actual causes of global warming.

I am not against Global warming nor am I totally in favor of it. I think we are having a climate change the cause of this is and should be a open discussion from those on either side of the subject

I just think both sides of the story needs to be told especially in the schools where children are being taught in schools that Al Gore's version is the only correct version on this subject. When I went to school in the 50's and early 60's I was taught that there is a Pro and a Con side to conterversial subject matter.

I think this subject needs to be discussed without name calling from either side.

Well, on that we can agree 100%. Evidence needs to be analyzed objectively and conclusions drawn on the basis thereof.

While I tend to empathize with the causes of environmentalists, I have often been turned off by their radicalism and blind faith. I feel there is a lot of validity in the arguments being put forth in defense of the existence of global warming, but have not had the time/energy to acquaint myself with the topic to the point where I feel secure in taking a strong postion.

I am, however, inclined to err on the side of caution...

Well If you really have an open mind, all your arguments are addressed and answered by a reliable source point by point.

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/dn11462

The points addressed include:

• Human CO2 emissions are too tiny to matter

• We can't do anything about climate change

• The 'hockey stick' graph has been proven wrong

• Chaotic systems are not predictable

• We can't trust computer models of climate

• They predicted global cooling in the 1970s

• It's been far warmer in the past, what's the big deal?

• It's too cold where I live - warming will be great

• Global warming is down to the Sun, not humans

• It’s all down to cosmic rays

• CO2 isn't the most important greenhouse gas

• The lower atmosphere is cooling, not warming

• Antarctica is getting cooler, not warmer, disproving global warming

• The oceans are cooling

• The cooling after 1940 shows CO2 does not cause warming

• It was warmer during the Medieval period, with vineyards in England

• We are simply recovering from the Little Ice Age

• Warming will cause an ice age in Europe

• Ice cores show CO2 increases lag behind temperature rises, disproving the link to global warming

• Ice cores show CO2 rising as temperatures fell

• Mars and Pluto are warming too

• Many leading scientists question climate change

• It's all a conspiracy

• Hurricane Katrina was caused by global warming

• Higher CO2 levels will boost plant growth and food production

• Polar bear numbers are increasing

It will shred all of the above arguments with detailed scientific explanations.

I am certain you will ignore it.

Shelly

Why did you end a perfect reply like that? He was only exposing the fact that some schools were cramming it down the kids throats as fact. It sounded perfectly reasonable to me.

It was not a time to show your arrogance just because you lick Gore's boots on the subject.

Shelly on this matter I do not take your views into consideration. You once called me stupid on this matter. Name callers do not deserve my attention

What about the views in his link? How do you feel about them?

They shouldn't be guilty by association....

I respect Shelly’s views on computers and computer problems.

I do not respect him on the off topic Lounge

I know Shelly would tell you that that he is not conceded, as conceit is a fault and Shelly would certainly tell you he has no faults
