"A question for the iPod users"

A neighbor of mine recently gave me her old mini-iPod because her battery wasn't holding the charger very well. Her sister had given her a better and more recent iPod as a gift. I noticed there were several cables listed on Ebay.

I was thinking about buying this Hot Sync charger & data usb cable but it does not specifically say it's mini-compatible. Are all the hot sync cables universal or are they specific to each iPod model?

That eBay auction says it's compatible with the Ipod Mini.

And yes USB cables have been the same on all models for some time. Can't say that about 1G models, but definitely newer models such as yours.

Nevermind, I called the Apple store downtown and they confirmed for me they are universal.

You can buy replacement batteries for the iPod Mini and replace it yourself. Your iPod will be like new.

Thanks Laurie, I actually found a new battery on Fleabay with a much larger capacity. We'll see when it gets here how good it works. BTW, did you see that guy create that makeshift battery charger in the Altoid can? Pretty interesting.

You should be aware the charger works best with USB 2.0 connections.

(My daughters wouldn't hold more than 2 hrs charge after a whole 24hrs on a USB 1.1 connection)
