"THE STIMULUS"

Sometime this year, taxpayers will receive an
Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new
program that I will explain using the Q and A format:
Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send
to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own
money?
A. No, they are borrowing it from China . Your
children are expected to repay the Chinese.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to
purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the
economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of
China ?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help
the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money
will go to China .
If you spend it on gasoline it will go to Hugo
Chavez, the Arabs and Al Queda
If you purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan .
If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to
Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala (unless you buy
organic).
If you buy a car it will go to Japan and Korea .
If you purchase prescription drugs it will go to
India

If you purchase heroin it will go to the Taliban in
Afghanistan
If you give it to a charitable cause, it will go to
Nigeria .
And none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America . You
can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales,
going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, beer
(domestic ONLY), or tattoos, since those are the only
businesses still in the US.

So what? BHP-Billiton has an office in the USA too. That doesn't make it American-owned.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anheuser-Busch

Acquisition by InBev

Main article: Anheuser-Busch InBev

On June 12, 2008, Brazilian - Belgian brewing company InBev announced that it had agreed to a US$46 billion offer for the company. If this had been successful, it would have joined two of the world's four largest brewing companies (based on revenue) and create a company that brews three of the top beers in the world, namely Bud Light, Budweiser, and Skol. InBev also stated that the merger would not result in any U.S. brewery closures and they would also attempt to keep on management and board members from both companies. On June 25, 2008, Anheuser-Busch officially announced that they would reject InBev's offer and provide a restructuring of company to maintain shareholders and United States World Headquarters in St. Louis. On July 1, 2008, InBev urged Anheuser-Busch shareholders to vote in favor of the buyout as InBev felt the offer of $65 per share should be considered a reasonable offer in view of the falling stock market. The company had previously filed suit in Delaware, after the rejection of their offer, to ensure that the stockholders could oust Anheuser-Busch's 13 board members. On July 7, 2008, Anheuser-Busch filed a lawsuit against InBev to stop them from soliciting support of shareholders, stating that the company's offer is an illegal scheme. InBev is also accused of concealing that they do business in Cuba, which might have created additional obstacles to their efforts to operate in the United States.

On July 13, 2008, Anheuser-Busch and InBev said they have agreed to a deal, pending shareholder and regulatory approval, for InBev to purchase the American icon at $70 per share, creating a new company to be named Anheuser-Busch InBev. Anheuser-Busch would get two seats on the combined board of directors. The all-cash agreement, almost $52 billion in total equity, would create the world’s largest brewer, uniting the maker of Budweiser and Michelob with the producer of Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Leffe and Beck's, Bass, Labatt and Brahma. The two companies would have yearly sales of more than $36.4 billion, surpassing the current No. 1 brewer, London-based SABMiller. On November 18, 2008 the acquisition was completed and the company is now known as Anheuser-Busch Inbev.

Simply pointing out the inherent absurdity of the original post.

As to Bud being my beer of choice, you must be kidding. If I want a tasteless odourless liquid I'll get it out of the tap, thanks.

I know you didn't write it. This is the third forum I've seen it posted in.

Therefore it follows that it wasn't a personal attack on you. Doesn't make it (the text) any less absurd, though.

Aaaaarrgghh!. The word "like" in that sentence is ABSOLUTELY unnecessary, as it is 99% of the times it is used nowadays.

Nothing personal, Adam. I just hate the murder of that word.

Are we really going to get a stimulus check again?

If so how much this time?

I ask, because I heard so many different stories about getting another check.

One says no we are not getting one this year and another says yes we are going to get another stimulus check.

Who knows the truth?????

It is proposed to be in the form of reduced withholding taxes rather than a a check.

That's not going to be as nice as the one everyone received last year.

Especially those who do not have to file a tax return.

But, as usual, I guess it is necessary for the rich to get richer.

I think it's a little premature to say that it's not for the better.

Unless you have a Masters in Economics and know what you're talking about with this kind of stuff.

I would venture to guess that 99% of the rednecks who dislike Obama and this "change", don't have the first clue when it comes to balancing their finances let alone know anything about what drives the economy.

Explain how government spending creates wealth/jobs? It was borrowing and spending that got us into this mess. I don’t see how borrowing and spending will get us out. Why stop at $900 billion? Why not $9 trillion?

As I recall it was women and children first, and the reason so many died was because the ships owners, believing the ship was unsinkable, provided too few lifeboats. It was mainly the crew and the male millionaires who went down with the ship But feel free to make up any facts you like.

Perhaps, but I could provide you with a hundred opinions from the worlds greatest economists disagreeing with that assessment, although I realize that it will not interest anyone who depends on selected others to provide them their opinions. Herbert Hoover, and George Bush up until his final too late epiphany, successfully proved that government inaction can result in financial disaster.

Economists do not agree on this there are valid arguments on both sides of this package. I certainly do not want you thinking for me. I think for myself, I look at both sides of the issues. I see Obama said in a Town Hall meeting today in Indiana that people cannot spend money they do not have, well gee that's a thought. It has never stopped politicians left or right or in between. I am sure that many here have never seen a social spending package they did not like.

There almost always are. But one side won an election ten minutes ago and now controls the agenda. So, I wonder which side is going to win this particular argument.

No doubt the the moderates of either party will not win. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid special interest groups like Acorn will win and those that support the far left. However it is possible in 2 years when the house is up for re-election it could come up and bite them and anyone that voted in favor of this pork laden bill including any Senators right or left that will be up for re-election.

If you believe in Polls it is now shown that the people do not think this is a good package.

Please. That's facile. It's ditto-head speak.

With your obvious zealotry in the way it's next to impossible to discuss issues intelligently with you.

Of course you say and think what you want, as do we all. But, that doesn't make you unique or any less of the constant and unwavering zealot you've proved yourself to be in your many posts.

If indeed you are not a zealot then why is it you have but one tune in your repertoire? And, despite the changed and desperate circumstance we all face, you continue to play it like a broken record.

It's entitled, "Maintain the Status Quo."

1. Shuler is anti-stimulus to start with. (And anti-Pelosi, apparently)

2. He's blaming the Democrats for lack of bi-partisanship? Yeah, right!

All sounds like sour grapes to me.

Nope, I am going to try to get my share of the money however no matter how little. This Stimulus bill still bad policy. I do not think you can spend or tax yourself into prosperity. To pay for this package and possible bigger ones in the future, Taxes will have to raised. There are not enough rich people in the world to pay for this and future economic packages. Taking from the rich to give to the poor does not make the poor richer nor rich poorer.(author Unknown)

You're repeating yourself again.

After the third time making it, I'm sure we all get your point -- even though it's utter nonsense.

I'm happy that your particular nest is well feathered, unfortunately there are millions who are not so fortunate -- and, were they to subscribe to your sarcastic philosophy and actually adopt such a lifestyle, a refrigerator carton awaits.

As long as all you grasping misers on the far right scream at the top of your lungs and throw an embolism every time the government asks you for a dusty nickle, America is in absolutely no danger of becoming a socialist society.
