"Time goes buy fast. "

Is it really true that time goes buy faster as you get older?
It does seem that way to me. I feel like I just had my 40th b-day the other day. now I am about to have 42d.
why is it that time seems to go faster as you get older?
does it continue to move faster from here on out for me?
am I going to wake up next moth and be 52?
whats the deal with days and weeks and years going fast

Time seems to pass according to what you are doing. If you are busy and active time seems to fly, If you are sitting around doing nothing time drags. Keep busy and you will be old before you know it.

No, hopefully you'll wake up ten years from now and be 52. But then it probably will seem like a month.

They say "time flies when you're having fun."

I think I'm 25 but my 75 year old body says different.

Jeez...I've never been this old before.

I have always heard that vocabulary was truly the first thing to go instead of the most common ideas. For instance, not knowing the difference between buy, by, and bye!

I'll be the first one to support a healthy and strong education for all, but it's a tad bit tacky to ridicule someone for their weaknesses in their language skills. The meaning of his post was perfectly clear, and that is truly the fundamental purpose of language - communication. In that respect, despite the obvious flaws in delivery, his communication of his thought was acceptable. Common courtesy may be in order here.

I am an elder too. I make fun of myself all the time.

It wasn't my intention at all to offend or ridicule anyone.

Since it did, I am sorry.

Not sure it actually offended anyone, certainly not me. I just have noticed more than a few posts that were hell bent on bringing someone's literary inadequacies to the forefront for no good reason. I will admit that I grew up in any age, as you probably did, when grammar, spelling and literary prowess were valued and prized attributes. Seems those days are rapidly waning. To read most newspapers today is to experience pain with the pathetic editorial efforts they display. But, alas, today's world doesn't seem to place the same values on those qualities. Anyone growing up in the modern, texting society will most likely not be fluent in the English language. I feel, as you seem to, that it's a loss, but the world is changing.

Face it, if the sentiment and communicative purpose has been achieved, how the individual got there is really not that important.

Sorry if I made you feel uneasy. I just noticed what I thought was another attack at a poster that was not really necessary or desirable.

You bring up my pet peeve; newspapers!

I have read a daily local newspaper every day of my life since I was about 10 years old.

Today local newspapers are dying, Correction, they are committing suicide. My local paper has gone to a smaller page size (narrower) and their print size has been repeatedly reduced. so have things like the comics.

Who the hell do they think their audience is? Its old farts like me. The young are not newspaper customers for the most part. My local paper had 10 point type when I moved here 26 years ago, now they use 6 point type to fit all the content on the smaller and reduced number of pages. I need a magnifying glass to read the text in the miniscule comics panels. They have abandoned their older audience and as a result some of their advertisers have largely abandoned them.

When I was in grade school the teacher would ask us to bring in any samples of grammatical error we could find in the local newspaper articles. I remember reading page after page before I could find something worthy. That was when editors were trained and used their eyes and their brains to discern correct content. Now, with spell-checkers and grammar checkers doing the work, and editors merely as figure-heads, you don't need to read past the first paragraph to find as many errors as you want. Sad, but true.

From my experience, the worst offenders are sub-editors, whose two functions appear to be to butcher well-written articles into smaller space and to compete with each other to produce the most atrocious feeble attempts at puns as headlines.

I have actually had email discussions on this with a couple of local columnists whose work I respect and they have both told me that subbies are the bane of their existence.

Time 'does' pass faster as we age, and being less able to do the same things we did when we were in our younger years is tied to those same hands on the clock. We can only hope that we covered most of the items on our youthful bucket lists, and made some really good memories along the way.

Hey, don't give up that easily! You can make some pretty impressive memories at any age. You may need to get a tad more creative, but it's worth the effort. Enjoy your years - ALL of them!

Yeah you said it there. When I was younger I was very adamat about doing all that things I wanted to do and I am glad that I did. Because now that I am older and have issues. I really cant get some of that stuff done anymore So I am glad I did them when I could.

but I really am not to crazy about getting super old.
I hope my time comes before I am in Depends underwear.

Life is a continuum. In the beginning, it's diapers. In the end, it's DependsŪ.

Embrace it - it's the circle of life. Just as it was in the beginning, in the end, someone will change them for you.

Jim.

There's an easy way to cure that problem - move to the forest and stop wearing underwear all together!

I'm 38 and some days I feel like I'm 55 and other days I feel like I'm 21. I figure my actual age is the average of how I feel in general.
