Recently my thyroid medicine ran out and I was not able to get it refilled due to not having the funds. So my thyroid blood levels were rising out of control and I ended up in the hospital on May 5th. I did not get out until May 27. I am restricted from from driving and working for the next few weeks until I get back to normal range in the blood levels. This is why I have not been in the forum at all for the last few weeks. The medicine is called Synthroid, it is 27 dollars for a 3 month supply through the VA in Tampa but when you don't have money to spend you can only pay for what you can afford. Daylilydayzed Daylilies are the Lord's smiles, new one every day.
Maybe you could contact the manufacturer of your medication. I hear many pharmaceutical companies state in their TV ads "If you aren't able to afford your medication, maybe we can help".

I look at the prices of drugs that my insurance pays for along with my co-pay and wonder how many Americans die because they're broke and can't afford their meds. Some of my drugs go beyond $10 a pop. Certainly your thyroid medicine is a heck of a lot cheaper than 22 days in the hospital. I'm betting this doesn't happen in Canada! ....only in America...

I was thinking the same thing. You'd think the insurance company would be more than willing to pay for the prescription as opposed to a three week hospital stay.

You would think so that just equaled a lifetime supply I would imagine.
