I'm surprised he'd be so wasteful. As was suggested several decades ago, I believe by Jules Siegel, interstellar space aliens are likely to be the cream of their species. Much as we send our best, brightest, and fittest representatives into space, he suggested that an alien race would probably do the same.

As such, they would be healthy and physically in-shape with little body fat.

The suggestion was, when the aliens arrive, to "KILL THEM AND EAT THEM".

After all, there are no laws against it.

Plus they're probably healthful, indeed tasty, and low fat, high protein specimens. If there were enough of them we could help feed third world countries. And besides, if they sent for reinforcements, it would take thousands of years to get here and would be someone else's problem.

Or maybe to hijack their starship in case things get too bad here? Or maybe just a joyride past Jupiter. (Seriously, would be really cool to be able to fly past the planets. I highly doubt it'll happen in my lifetime, though.)
