#4. "RE: Obama's comments?" In response to toim4018 (Reply # 0) Tue Dec-13-16 06:17 PM by jasonlevine
I don't see the problem.
Quote:
"I think there's a reason why attitudes about my presidency among whites in Northern states are very different from whites in Southern states," Obama told Zakaria. "Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign, the other? Are those who champion the 'birther' movement feeding off of bias? Absolutely."
He's not saying that all Southerners are racist. Just that people in the South tend to have more racist attitudes than those in the North. This is the result of a deep history of slavery in the South and abolitionism in the North.
I went to a wedding in South Carolina years ago. It took place on a former plantation and I went on a tour. The tour guide referred to the slaves as "plantation workers" - never using the term "slaves." It's like they wanted to think the people working the plantations had applied for the job, got accepted, and were treated the same as any employee today might be treated. They completely glossed over the "bad parts" of their history in order to present themselves in the best possible light.
There are people living in northern states who are racist and people living in southern states who aren't. In general, though, the southern states have a higher degree of racism than northern states do.
The author of that vulgar piece is a racist, and you, for taking it as gospel and regurgitating and defending it here, have revealed yourself also to be racist.
And please don't cite again as representative of American blacks your like-minded collection of acquaintances, whose self-hating, mean-spirited pettiness you use to rationalize your own bigotry.
I guess you like calling someone a bigot. More power to you, but I am far from one. Just a shame that a president would even make comments like that about any group. He has no respect for the average American.
Seems everyone on here likes to call out articles as false if they don't like the source or statement they make. Read a couple other articles that reported the same thing and Obama was quoted as regretting he could not pass more gun legislation also. He was against southerners for that reason also. Sounds like discrimination to me but not to others.
I really don't give a damn what you think President Obama thinks of Southerners, or aught else, for that matter. The man thinks in technicolor while you and your reactionary buddies think in monochrome.
I doubt you have an inkling of the pain you inflict. Sad.
I could less what an arrogant person such as you thinks about me. I m far from a bigot and I don't know who I would be inflicting any pain on. You just don't like like it because doesn't agree it's you and the rest of the board.

I will admit to voting for him although it is hard to believe either one of the candidates were the best 2 in the country. I just could not bring myself to support her, I voted for what I felt was the lesser of the 2 evils.
Did a post get deleted? I noticed my last one was #8 and yours is #10 but do not see #9.
