This family got in a car crash and their 5 year old died of her injuries. So they sued Apple. Why? Because the driver that crashed into them was using Facetime on their Apple device at the time. The family claims that Apple has technology that could have locked the driver our of Facetime, but didn't implement it and thus they are responsible for the crash.
While, I feel bad that their daughter is dead, Apple's not to blame. The driver is. It's his job to make sure he's driving safely. Whether he/ was using Facetime, texting, or trying to read a newspaper while driving, the specifics don't matter. He made a choice to drive distracted and that caused a person to die. It's not the phone's manufacturer that caused the death, it's the driver.
