"Adhesive Tape Or Something Better" Mon Jan-02-17 01:04 PM by uffbros
I need a very strong adhesive tape or anything that will work for my scenario. I got a nice very bright light Led light for above my stove. It runs on batteries. The thing is the adhesive that came with it held for a few hours. So we got out the Velcro sticky tape thing and it didn't last any longer. Now I need something that is not permanent because I have to get in the back of the light to change the batteries. I have been to Amazon and the reviews have people having the same problem. The surface I have tried is oak wood, which is very smooth, and also plaster drywall. This light is at best 10 ounces. Any ideas?I found this tape site...would this work? Thanks for any ideas on this.

I'm Sceptical of any tape reliably holding it in place abobe a stove and yet being reemovable. Can you attach a plate or flanges to the light and then using sheet metal screws to hold it in place? Making a battery operated light for use over a heat source strikes me as a dubius idea.

well, I could stick it to plaster wall behind stove?? But the stuff I used so far doesn't stick for more than 8 hours. I'm not skilled enough to do your idea.Has to be something out there surely.

Two or three small screws with grommets through the sticky Velcro into the plasterboard should hold it. Just don't use too strong Velcro or you could pull the screws and part of the wall off when you remove the light to change batteries.

Hard to believe in 2017 and there is nothing that can accomplish a simple task for me without screws and digging up the wall or making permanent marks. We can go to the moon supposedly but can stick something of light weight to a wall??? Unbelievable.

I posted the Amazon link for reference and reviews and such. Feel free to look around for other pricing DO NOT get any other sticky putty than BT - it's the one and only one that actually works.
Your situation is problematic because of hanging, but think it through and this stuff will probably do you. I always have some on hand.

Try cleaning the area where you want the adhesive to stick with isopropyl alcohol. Attach your sticky strip and keep pressure on it for thirty seconds. Then allow the adhesive to cure for at least an hour before you hang your light. Good luck.
