Andrew Puzder, Donald Trump's choice to serve as labour secretary, pulls out.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/andrew-puzder-donald-trumps-choice-to-serve-as-labour-secretary-pulls-out-20170215-gudzyc.html

Quote:
Andrew Puzder, President Donald Trump's choice to serve as the next labour secretary, has withdrawn his nomination amid growing resistance from Republicans and Democrats in the Senate...

...In the hours leading up to Puzder's withdrawal, 12 Republican senators "at a minimum" were withholding support, said one Republican senator, who asked for anonymity to avoid political retribution.

Puzder, a restaurant executive and Trump campaign supporter, had attracted widespread criticism over his business record and personal background...

...Some Republican senators initially said they were withholding support until they could see how the political novice fared at his confirmation hearing, which was scheduled for Thursday morning.

But as Wednesday progressed, it became clear to Republican Senate leaders that they did not have the votes to confirm him.

Puzder, the chief executive of CKE Restaurants, was set to appear before the Senate Health, Education, Labour and Pensions Committee for a long-delayed hearing amid a protracted review of his vast personal wealth, details of a rancorous divorce more than 25 years ago and revelations that his family once employed an undocumented immigrant as a housekeeper...

On another note 5 former ambassadors to Israel are saying his pick is unqualified. This just indicates to me he's throwing darts at a board instead of doing his homework when doing any of these picks. He looks like he's floundering over his head and doesn't bode well for a successful presidency.

Americans are more stressed than ever. When the American Psychological Association conducted a poll in January to check on the nation’s mental health, the results weren’t pretty.

At 57 percent, more than half of respondents said the current political climate was a very or somewhat significant source of stress. The poll’s results show a “statistically significant increase in stress for the first time since the survey was first conducted in 2007," the APA said.
