I was reading this morning's West Australian (Perth's morning newspaper) and these letters appeared on the Letters to the Editor page (for privacy reasons I won't post the names):
As parents of a missing New York firefighter lost at the World Trade Center we extend our condolences to the families whose loved ones were massacred in Bali. We truly feel your pain and understand what you are going through. Mr. and Mrs. V.R., Brooklyn, US.
Dear Australians, I am an American survivor of the World Trade Center attack, I just wanted you all to know that I grieve with you for your people at Kuta, I hope the doctors are able to help the victims recover. P.G., East Haddam, US.
I just wanted to say that our hearts go out to your country after the Bali bomb blasts. L.R., Houston, Texas.
If one voice can make a difference to you during this moment of tragedy, I offer my heart and compassion to you. We all feel the pain. S.McK., Florida, US.
There were also letters from London, Denmark and France.
I'm sure I speak for all Australians when I say thank you, especially to our American friends who lost so many in the tragedy of September 11th 2001.
